Why is the directory based on zip codes?
Most other directories use cities or, worse, states to filter for
tutors. City-based searching limits the coverage where a tutor can
actually work, while a listing by state will just innundate a user
with listings that are outside of the general area. Zip code based
searching offers the flexibility of the tutor to pick exactly where
he/she wants to work. The system is based on the distance you are
willing to travel from your home zip code.
How is this directory different/better?
Unlike other sites, our primary mission is to get people to search
this directory and make it easy for them to find the right tutor.
In addition to a better search engine and filtering mechanisms,
we simply work harder to get people to use this site. This will
ultimately translate to more relevant hits for you. We are currently
developing tools to help you manage your clientele, which will be
available to active members later this year.
How many zip codes can I be listed in?
The number of zip codes a tutor can be listed depends on the number
of miles you are willing to travel. Because it does not make sense
for you to travel more than an hour away from your home zip code,
the most you can travel is 60 miles and a list of zip codes within
this radius will automatically be generated. You can narrow the
zip code list, and select all, some, or none.
What is free?
Every tutor is listed by state and in at least one zip code for
free.
How much does it cost to advertise/register my name in multiple
zip codes?
There is no obligation to register in multiple zip codes.
However, it does increase your coverage. Registering
your name/tutoring service in multiple zip codes costs only $5.95
for one year; $7.95 for 2 years; and $9.95 for 4 years. Certainly, one referral makes it a
profitable investment. All fees go towards advertising on search
engines and subsidize the costs of maintaining this site.
What happens when my multiple zip code listing expires?
You will still maintain your listing in your home zip code and no
longer be listed in multiple zip codes. Before your listing expires,
DirectoryofTutors.com will send you an email asking you to renew
your listing. This is not an invoice/bill.
How much does it cost to reinstated my multiple zip code listing
after expiration?
It is important that you do not let your listing expire. The cost
of reactivating your multiple zip code listing remains the same
($5.95 for a 1 year listing; $7.95 for 2 years; and $9.95 for 4
years).
What are methods of payment?
DirectoryofTutors.com only accepts credit cards. Secure payments
can be made via Paypal. A Paypal account is not required, and all
major credit cards are accepted. Once you have created a profile,
you can purchase a listing.
How does my profile get ranked with respect to others?
Tutors are ranked first by relevancy, then by the user's expiration
date. Tutors can get top-listed simply by extending your membership.
I want people to send me an email, rather than call me. Do I
need a phone number to sign up?
Yes, a valid phone number is required. However, you can choose not
to display your phone number in your profile. Tutors are encouraged
to have a separate (mobile) phone, just for your service.
As a principal/teacher, I am constantly being approached by my
students' parents asking me for alternatives to the national learning
centers, which most parents cannot afford. Do you have a flyer that
