Rachel Arnold Profile
Hello,
My name is Rachel and I am a cellist living in the Boston area. I moved here from Los Angeles in July 2006 to earn my Masters degree in music from the Longy School of Music (in Cambridge). I really enjoy teaching cello, and I hope to inspire many students to continue on the path of music. In Los Angeles I taught through the Harmony Project, Seoul School of Music, and Community Arts Partnership at the California Instute of the Arts. In the spring of 2007, I taught a mini-residency at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Brighton, MA.
I am interested in a variety of music styles including Baroque, Classical, jazz, improvisational, and contemporary music. I have participated in several international chamber music festivals including Zephyr (Italy), Bowdoin (Maine), and Summer Institute of Contemporary Performance Practice (New England Conservatory). My jazz quartet CD, When Manatees Attack, featuring music by percussionist Brad Dutz, was heralded in Jazz Times, "The musicians play with precision but let the music flow naturally...the solos are creative." I am also a member of Los Angeles-based Partch, a microtonal ensemble that plays the music of Harry Partch. In Partch I play the adapted viola and kithara (72-stringed I earned a Master of Music degree in cello performance (with distinction) from the Longy School of Music and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California Institute of the Arts. Her principalteachers are Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick and Terry King. Ms. Arnold can also be heard on record labels pfMentum, Cold Blue, Innova and Afrasia Productions.

Ms. E Alden Profile
Hello! I'm a Springfield, Missouri native and love working with people. As a high school student, I graduated with over a 4.0 gpa (with honors), and at Missouri State University, I currently have a 3.86 gpa. Learning is a huge passion of mine, and I've studied numerous things. I would love to share my knowledge with others!
I'm particularly interested in tutoring Japanese to beginners or helping out a current student of Japanese. I've taken Japanese classes for 9 years now and attended the University of Oregon for a year to complete my academic minor in it.
In addition, I have played the cello for over 12 years and would be interested in teaching interested beginners of all ages! I am a member of the MSU symphony and am in a local band as well. I am very patient and kind when it comes to learning a musical instrument because I know it is a difficult process.
Most of my experience with tutoring is with non-native English speakers. I helped a woman write her masters thesis while at UO and have worked with Japanese exchange students' English papers. I am interested in helping others out in their quest to improve their English oral and writing skills.
I am willing to meet for half hour or hour long sessions. The price I have up there is certainly not fixed. I realize it depends on multiple factors (i.e. my experience in the field I'm tutoring in, how long the session is, how often we meet, etc). I can easily provide references, and I have a pretty flexible schedule. Please contact me for more information!
