I am comfortable tutoring math at all levels up through calculus, physics up to through electricity and magnetism, and computer programming in most languages. My tutoring philosophy is two-fold. First of all, I firmly believe that learning is fun. Students learn best when they are enjoying the process. I include puzzles and games where appropriate, and do what I can to make tutoring sessions fun. Second, I strongly feel that understanding material is the key to doing well. I make sure that my students understand the "why" of the material, so that when faced with new problems they will be able to solve them. I have been tutoring and teaching in many different venues since high school. Most recently I have worked for a summer camp teaching C++ programming, and worked for one of the test-prep companies preparing students for the math portion of the SAT. I also have lots of experience tutoring high school students in calculus. My specialty is math at any level up through college level calculus, but I am also comfortable tutoring physics and the math portion of standardized tests. I am available to tutor pretty much any time during the week (I spend my weekends working as a ski instructor in Vermont, so I am not available on weekends during the winter).
